If anybody knows German here, they already know that I'm 14. Now you know too. My beige 1971 Maverick was given to me by my brother, who got it from my dad when he got a '92 Mustang LX. My bro is 28, but I know more about cars than he does, so he never could really appreciate the coolness of a Maverick, nor did he want to since he didn't know the difference between the carburetor and the radiator. It ran like crap until he pulled up to my house and threw the keys at me saying, "I don't want it anymore, take it." Then I plugged a vacuum leak and it ran fine. But she has a lot more problems than just vacuum leaks. That's why I'm here now. So there ya go, my little anecdote.

The modifications my dad had made by the time he gave it to my brother were:
    - Front discs
    - Swapped the 200CID six-cylinder for a 302 (mainly because he was actually meaning to just covert the 6-cyl "three in the tree" to a C4 3-speed but couldn't find the right bell housing)
    - 5-bolt 9" rear end
    - Edelbrock Performer 2-bbl aluminum intake (I wish he got a 4-bbl intake but he didn't want my bro to kill himself)
    - Front bucket seats from his old Nissan Stanza (ther are AWESOME seats, so supportive compared to the bench seat!)

My dad is 52 years old and he's pretty burned out by now, sleep apnea doesn't help, so I have to do all the work to continue the legacy of the awesome Maverick! My mom once asked me if it was worth restoring, why not just scrap it, right? I simply gave her a cold glare and a shake of the head. "No," I said, "we will NEVER scrap the Maverick."

SWEET. I'll definitely be there! I live SO close to there it's not even funny. Close enough to make my dad drive the Grandma Car (the '71 was my dad's grandmother's car that was willed to him) up there, with missing muffler and all! I mean, the car isn't anywhere near worth showing there, but it's worth driving there in it. I just need to get my dad to insure the car.

Thanks for the warm welcome :tiphat:! I really feel good about this forum. It seems to me that you can't be a bad person if you own a Maverick :thumbs2: so I think I'll get just the help I need and so much more :D

Also: Has anybody noticed that the Maverick logo is the same as the Burgermaster one, but without eyes?
