    Hi All,

I have the factory retractable shoulder belts in my '72 and the belt strap clips into the lap belt, then the lap belt snaps together. Is there a factory one-piece belt that can be swapped in that does not require the extra "clip to belt" routine?

Check you state laws. Could be illegal to alter or remove the factory safety restraint.

    Just sayin'...

The set-up you desire was not available until 1974. It would require cutting holes in your rocker panels (on the inside) to install this type of set up on your car.

    My 74 has them.

Seat belts get old and dry rot from the sun UV rays. They should be replaced or at least re-webbed. NHRA says replace them every 2 years so you know 35-40 year old belts were on their last leg 20 years ago...try telling that to you local law enforcement if you get caught not wearing one.

    Replacement is ok.

Changing from a hanging type shoulder belt to a retractable one probably isn't.

Removing your shoulder and lap belts and adding a 5 point harness is not legal either. (However, that is exactly what I'm doing)

Chances of being ticketed for this is very very very small. However, it does exist, and people on here have complained about it before.

    Caveat emptor.
