Did a search, but didn't quite find what I wanted. I'm picking up a nice set of 90 leather fox mustang seats for my 72 maverick. It would be easiest for me to just use the fox mustang seat rails, as I don't have an early pair of maverick seat rails. However, I want to do what's best. Are the early rails a bolt on pretty much? What if I used the fox rails? Is the floorpan strong enough to just drill through and mount up the fox rails, or should I re inforce the floorpan with a metal plate where I drill through for the fox rails?
that's good info. I may weld just a small metal square onto the mustang seat rails on the legs which contact the floorpan, which I'll drill through for the bolt...that way it'll disperse the contact area to the floorpan out a little, then I know I'll have no problems.
Maverick rails will bolt right up to the Mustang seats. Drilling holes just anywhere really isn't safe. In an accident......the seats could possibly rip right out of the floor.
Take a look at the factory reinforcement for the seat mounting. It's on the underside of the floor. That'll indicate what's required. I'm reinforcing my bucket seat mounts above and below the floor pan. That way it'll support a fat man and stay put in a collision.
what fusterates me the most, is that i've bought and sold probably 7-8 sets of these over the years. URGH. Gotta do this right. If it's a straight up bolt on, or even min. mod...gotta do it right. So i'm on the lookout for some bucket seat rails now
