just curious if anyone knows how much gear oil an 8" rear end takes. i know your supposed to just fill it till it comes out the hole, i just want to know how much oil to start with. Also, is 80/90 wieght ok to use? thanks

it should take 2.5 to 3 quarts. yes you fill it till it starts coming out the hole. 80/90 weight or anything close to that will work. dont use stalube brand. it sucks. dont use synthetic oil. ive seen too many gearset wearout prematurely with synthetic

thank Bryant thats what was guessing. Yeah I'm not a fan of synthetic for gear lube either. What about in your motor though? are you a fan? I'm running Mobile One right now.

my only problem with syn. motor oil is that it will find any weakly sealed place and leak out. if it doesnt leak then keep running it. if it leaks goto a natrual base oil

motor is fresh, only 700 miles on it b4 i had to put it up for the winter so i don't think any leaks will be a concern. got a lot of money rapped up in to it now and my engine builder said synthetic will pro long my engine life so i guess i will keep running it for now. thanks again(y)
