Should have it home this week for glass, chrome, stripe and interior installation .... The last two are pictures from the original ad on eBay ...
Believe it or not that is the factory original Bright Red - Color Code 3. I watched him mix the paint ... was 70% Orange, 20% Violet-Red, 5% White, 5% Yellow ... Not as Orange as Calypso Coral but close ... The Camera plays tricks with the color ...
dan, the car looks great. i want to paint mine the org. orange. the color code is ( 8g ). one store said it is vista orange. another said brite orange. how did you get the exact color?...frank...
Craig's car is Vista Orange ... search the board for pics of his car ... Any paint store can mix the color - they have all the codes and formulas. The body shop I am using mixes their own paint. They did some minor tweaking since they only had the formula for single stage ... He mixed it as base coat and sprayed the clear over the top.
thanks dan, i was just wondering why they gave me two diff. names for the same code. i will see what code craig used. what color is the black? i want mine trimed in a simi flat black. i still haven't found the simi flat black "fusion" paint for my panals. you got it where???...frank...
Actually it's called SATIN black not Semi-Flat black. Got it at Wal-Mart. It was in a stand-up display seperate than the Fusion colors on the shelves. As far as the hood and rear panel paint .. Du-Pont makes a line of Auto Paint called Hot Hues which has a color called Hot Rod Black. It is single stage Flat Black .. That is what my guy used .... $100 a quart - that includes the price of the hardner ...
Looking great. That second picture was like deja-vu for me. I'm talking about how the hood looks yellow in the picture. When I first got my Maverick, the previous owner had the car painted red with a yellow front end that faded into the red. The kids used to say it looked like a pop-sickel. Anyway, your Mav is coming along great . Keep the pictures coming.
Dan, like everyone else I've been following the progress of your car over the past several months. I'm surprised at how quickly it's taking shape. Looks like you've got a lot of hard work into it and it really shows. Can't wait to see the end result. Good luck! Sam
Thanks ... although it hasn't been that fast ... been working on it for about 6 months. Looking forward to getting it back together and on the road for my first car show. There is a big one here at Six Flags over Georgia Fourth of July weekend .. gonna be tight making that one ... Besides reassembly I still need tires, install my Posi-rear, get the exhaust installed and troubleshoot my noisy lifter ....
