we need a section just for me about stupid things ive dont and this is plane STUPID!!!

Taking off a temperature guage unit from the intake and i dropped the copper (or brass) piece in the distributor hole (yes the distributor was out) AH!!!

That was my first reaction as i ran to gram the magnetic puller, believe it or not, copper (or brass) is NOT magnetic:bs:

So i had to pull the timing chain cover off, in the process of doing this, IT FELL IN THE OIL PAN!:bs::bs:

so no i am trying to rig something to grab the copper (or brass) piece(y) Wow, what a day, and i might need to pull the oil pan!:thumbs2::yahoo:

WOOOOHOOOO!!!, so in the last 3 days i have gone over every part of my engine!!!! everything checks out too:cool:

Don`t feel alone! At one time or another I`m sure we`ve all had "boner" days.:)

P.S. When the "stupid" section comes out,I`ll have plenty of posts for it!!!!

pull the drain plug on the pan. and use a coat hanger to push it out the hole from the acess that you have from having the timeing cover off. while you have off check your timing chain for slack and replace it of there is any slack.

Just drain the oil and look for it. It should have gone to the bottom of the pan, unless it got stuck behind something. Good luck, and don't feel bad. We have all done things like that. If not, we ain't mechanicin' enough!

does it matter if its a roller or not?

Replace it for what it costs.
Wouldnt be the first part I left in an oil pan. Its not going anywhere if its in the bottom of the pan. Its not a nice feeling knowing its in there rolling around though.:naughty: Glad you got it out.

just a perciveable amount. 1/2 inch is pretty loose.

Justin, not sure about being able to use the roller chain, but 1/2" is pretty sloppy. For what they cost,I'd just go get a new one.One less thing to worry about.
