For headers with a column shift you need to use shorty headers...Doug thorley or Crites are the only game in town for the shorties that fit a mav. Or Hooker 6901 long tubes but...You will have to fab up a cable shifter set up to work with the column and long tube headers.
As for the converter...Depends on rear axle gear ratio and HP/torque output of the engine and vehicle weight to determine stall range for the application. That said you probably wont get too many responses regarding converter selection unless you can furnish the above mentioned info...Good luck!!!

sam b&m has some nice converters and as far as the headers hooker 6901s.i have a 2500 in my mav and i have the 6901s but i have a hurst promatic floor shifter with a cable so i cant help you there but i tkink they will work ok with the column shift.try doing a search on the headers i know others have asked what to use.hughes, makes pretty good converters to just stay away from tci converters.
    john
guess i was wrong about the column working ok you could always put a nice hurst floor shifter in it.
