heading down the road with my brand new e7 heads and springs to match the cam and i hit 2000 rpms, and thats it! i hit about 2500 max, even when i floor it, now you would think this is a trans post but my car will not GO! its all bark and no bite, im thinking its the timing, any ideas? when i turn it over, it cranks slow enough to make me think its the timing.
can be the distrubuter gear just one toot off , append on my XR4TI ... sound was there but nothing on the power
you could have the distrubtor over advanced. if you did change the timeing chain it could be off a tooth. there could be some vacuum leaks.
When you found tdc and dropped the dist.in,was the rotor pointing to #1 or heading towards #1 on the cap?Counter clockwise rotation, but I'm sure you knew that.lol
when i dropped it in, it turned on me and was facing #1 sparkplug, i have it runing, its just backfiring like hell and wont go about 2000 rpms? revs to 3000 and bogs when floored
I'd def. would have changed that chain. One less culprit to elimate.Alot of times, backfiring out the carb is an indication of worn cam lobes.
so did i set this thing right? when you put it in does it shift a little to the right? or should it just drop in
