Ive probrably already asked this question but could i run a 3 inch single exhaust on a stock 302 equiped wth headers? my old thread http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=54906
Jay has single exhaust on his car, i don't know what size. But this car sounds Great in person It has a flowmaster.
Actually, I have read lots of reports stating that the best performing system is a "siamese' exhaust...dual coming together to a single, with one muffler, and exiting one pipe. In this case, 3" would probably be just about right, especially for a moderately built 302. Siamese systems are supposed to scavenge the best and provide the best hp/torque increases of any exhaust setup. Please don't make me prove this by finding my sources...I just know I have seen it in several different places.
trying to cut cost were i can on my project.....why run duals if I can get away with single....pay for one section of pipe instead of two....plus it'll give it that sleeaper look..lol....not that it'll sound like one....
Actually Larger pipes are deeper...Not louder. That's why most of those 4 cylinder cars are loud they usually run 1 3/4"-2" to the muffler..
