i cant seem to make up my mind as to what muffler to use for my 3 inch single exhaust setup... its between the Dynomax bullet and the Pypes M80 muffler....i want the exhaust to have a nice bark like this one

Your engine affects the sounds just as much as the exhaust does.

A stocker aint gonna sound like that no matter what muffler you use....

but i vote for the Dynomax bullet, ive heard it on cars plenty of times and i love the sound. Plus they're pretty cheap.

Hmm, my first impression with that vid is a mild engine with manifolds and no mufflers/loud exhaust. Dont really care for it.

I was surprised to see it was a straight 6 myself. I really like the Hooker Aero-chambers on my 71 F100. I have the echo tips on it but want to pull them off soon and see what it sounds like. They flow pretty well also.

3" is too much for stock-mild engines. I had 2.25 with them exiting at the axle...it wasnt loud enough for me. :D

i don't like the sound of the mufflers that drop at the rear end it is very loud in the car maybe have some pipes angled out the sides or something

We have ours angled out to the rear wheels with flowmasters.
It sounds great with a mild 302

i have said this before and I will say it again and again and again. The ABSOLUTE BEST!!! Single Exhaust on a mild 302 I have ever heard was on my old Blue 70 that I bought from a high school friend and he ran straight pipe all the way to the rear and capped it with a SuperTrapp adjustable disc muffler. It Sounded so freaking Awesome. I was always having people asking me about what kind of exhaust system I had on that car because they liked the way it sounded. [IMG]

My advice would be to go 2-2 1/4 and slip on some glass packs. people always argue over glass packs but imo they sound mean, how a wild 70's car should, plus there not even really that loud unless you get on it, itll just sit there and pur like one bad kitten. and there cheap so if you decide u dont want em or find a great deal on something else your only out 20-30 bucks.

i have a built 302. I ran 2 1/2" duels to flowmaster super 40's and they dump straight down right before rear axle. nice mean rumble cruizin through town. Not to loud at 55-70mph either. but if you get on it, say 4000-5000rpm, It sounds like a drag car. :D but flowmasters are 100 bucks a pc which is the only downfall. but then again they are heavy duty, not thin tin. I have always ran flowmasters on anything i have ever owned with a V-8, even the Famly SUV.:thumbs2:also with those cheap straight through glass packs, it may make your engine run very rich. mine did until i put the flowmasters on and gained some backpressure, then presto! run's perfect!

i got these off an 95 T-bird LX...they have a million mile guarantee from the factory so they'll be just good as new.
