autolight carb 4 barrel

factory 4 barrel carb off of a 65 galaxie 500
Should i even bother rebuilding it? or just keep it as a whole.

Could i just clean it and throw it on the car (for a test drive) or is it going to leak like hell.

 

is it a 4100?

if it is then its a really good carb...should look like this:

are they concidered double pumpers?

 

It has two pumps so im guessing yes....

my grandpa has one on his F150, after 150,000 miles is running great since the last rebuilt in 06.

as for the gaskets, it has about 4 less than a holley 4160. At least that's what i remember.

 

yep, exact same thing, mine still has the i.d. tag on it. Blast it, build it, run it, Until otherwise noted. i still have to go back for the intake and manifolds hahaha.

 

Theyre good carbs, and extremely popular. Theyre worth a little bit of money to the right guy

 

I have always run those carbs and have a few still. They are great carbs.

Could i use this carb on a big build?(one that i can afford) Only guessing yes since they put them on 390 cars too.

It looks like a holley pump mounted vertically.

 

It also looks like it has two squirters from the top view....
But I don't remember ever seeing a Ford "double pumper".
I have converted them to progressive linkage but even the "big" carbs are only 600 CFM. Definitely NOT for stroker engines!
