Hey guys i was wondering if the rockers on 302 from a maverick are bottom out rockers or adjustable rocks? Or is there a certain torque they should be tightened down to? Also do u think a 2 1/2 in ehaust is to big for the 302? Thanks
If they are stock they are not adjustable ... you just torque em down ... Check a Chiltons for specs ...
I think you need to torque them while the lifter is sitting on the base of the cam and the valve is closed. How about some pictures of your Stallion?
I have 3" exhaust on my 306. If the motor is bone stock, you will probably have some carb tuning issues. Dan
well my stallion is all apart right now waiting for the body work to be done on it. I would love to post pics but i dont have a digital camera. Maybe when my friend gets back from camping this weekend ill see if he will bring his camera over and ill try to post some pics. Thanks for the answers
18-20 ft/lbs of torque. doesn't matter if valve is open or closed, thats if adjusting adjustable valves. these are probably positive stop and just get tightened to a torque spec. mid '70s are positive stop if they are still "stock".
