Well where to begin..... My name is Darrin and I am now a Maverick owner. I live in a little town of Louisa Ky just shouth of Interstate 64 on the KY WV line. I bought our first Maverick Monday the 24th of May kinda as a birthday present for turning 44 on the 23rd.:thumbs2: I found an ad on Craigslist for a 73 Maverick with the following:

1973 Maverick project, excellent body original 302 car with air, motor not original to car, it is a 1994 5.0 block ordered from Summit racing . It has the following new parts: steel crank, rods, high volume oil pump, coated pistons, double roller timing chain, waterpump, trick flow heads, roller rockers, windage tray, weiand stealth intake, holley 750 double pumper carb, headers. Motor is 9:1 compression. Has the battery moved to the trunk and a electric fuel pump and fuel regulator installed. Grabber hood and trunk from a 71. Transmission is a original to car c4 rebuilt the same time as motor with a stage one kit and 3500 stall. Also has a B & M flex plate and a B&M ProStick Shifter installed. Ford 9 inch rear end out of a 80's model Lincoln Versailes. Must sell $1800.

WELL I get ahold of the guy and he is super nice. We talk about the car and just so happen I was about 15 minutes from him where i was working. I go look at the car and it needed the following. Distibutor, some sort of electrical spark box, wires, driveline and rear calipers. It had 2 rusty spots a little bigger than a silver dollar right behind the wheels on each side. I talked to him for about 30 minutes and he explained that he built this motor about 2 years ago and run it enough to break it in but it hasnt been on the street yet. He told me it came out of VA and he was the second owner. Well being the jewer I am, I offered him $1500 cash right then. He said he had way over $2000 just in the motor alone. He offered to meet me half way at $1650.. I couldnt get a deposit out of my pocket fast enough.:yahoo:

When I picked it up Tuesday he met me with the title and he said hang on a minute. He came out of the garage where the car has been stored for the past 12 years with a set of brand new traction bars. He said here I'll give you these, Come with me. We endend up carrying out a new set of fiberglass bumpers frame connecters and a set of pipes...LOL So I have a little work ahead as money will allow. A friend had a distibutor and brought it by yesterday. That give me a fever that the wife doesnt like and went to Advance Auto and bought the MSD street fighter box,MSD Blaster2 coil, MSD cap and rotor button, wires and a shiney coil holder.

So far I have had 4 people try to buy or trade me out of it. One guy just drove by and seen the wife outside and ask and she told him OUR car wasnt for sale...LOL I knew then I wasnt going to have to file for a divorce then(y)
My Dad is just as excited as I am about this so we are going to install the new parts this weekend and try to start it. You guys with motor experiance what would you say the motor with the stuff listed will make horse power wise. The guy said it was thinking about 400-450. Does that sound right?
Well thats my story and I'm sticking to it. I look foward to being on here and learning as much as I can. If i Dont get off here and get to work I wont have a job to by parts with...LOL
