Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum but certainly not to Mavericks. My current Mav is the 4th one I've owned. In fact one of the first cars I built was a Maverick, I was 19 at the time, I'm now 49, Yikes 30 years have gone by! I still love Mavericks. My current project is a 1970 2 dr with 302, C4. The car has been in my family for about 25 years. First owned by my dad, then my older brother, now me. I just started the project. When my brother owned the car he installed 5 bolt hubs, disc brakes, and 302 and lowered it. I plan to completely restore/modify it. So far the motor is almost done.
hey grabber71, i'm in forest grove about 25km north east of 100 mile house. couple of questions. is your maverick pictured a bracket car? what's your quickest time? have raced at mission? i raced a '78 mustang w/ 351W at mission for 2 years, the year the track opened and then the following year. i also raced at eagle motorplex. best time 13.21 @ 103 mph.
Cool stuff! My car is mostly a street car(even has 3:50 gears) but has run a best of 11.55 @117mph at Mission in the street class! We are planning another Mav/Comet meet at Mission this Sept for the Mega Ford event...come and join us! We had around 15 or so cars show up last year and more will be attending this year!
Mine is a street car also. Went to the Mega Ford event last year. Had a blast! Plan on going ahain this year. My best run was 14:95 @ 95mph. You have to remember, I drove there, raced & drove home. Not bad for a street car...
