Need some valve covers. Bryant has these on his car which I really like but they are hard to find online. They have the short ones but I want the tall ones and ideally in black. Are there other ones out there people use that are nice and solid?
These "boss" style covers from Ford racing are pretty tall and stand up straight on the verticle side making plug changes a bit easier.
I actually think that's what bryant gave me he had laying around. they look like they fit well but the baffles aren't there and I was trying to make some baffles for them but broke a screw inside the valve cover and gave up.
I found these online, for $40. I think they would work. And a good deal. http://redding.craigslist.org/pts/1834929010.html
You need these................. but the MT ones are rare and very nice! and cheap! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...2fd9f0b24&rvr_id=&ua=WXF?&itemid=330445671491 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...2fd9f0b24&rvr_id=&ua=WXF?&itemid=370385622747
so those holes in there, what are they for? do I have to have them because on my car they always leak.
Yes, you do need them one for the PCV, and the other to add oil. I guess you could get away with just one. If you are having leaks now and have no baffles, that is to be expected. Get the taller covers w/baffles and you should be OK. I am pretty sure Ford Motorsports still carries those .....and also in Black.
The reason the holes "leak" is engine blow-by, which is is caused by worn, or unseated rings. A properly running engine will not have oil coming out of those holes, although you do need your pcv valve hooked up reguardless. My old 1970 f-100 does the same thing.
