v8 motor mount help

    I was wondering what that part above the motor mount is and do i have to have it

    It's a heat shield. No you don't have to have it.

    Usually they have a sorta asbestos cloth (or something like that) stapled to the thin steel. My 74 still has one.

    i was wondering also are the 302 maverick motor mounts of set from each other like on each side of the 302 the bold holes are a different length from each other or something like that one says 2257 on the side and one says 2286

    The motor mounts are the same on both sides. interchangeable. Don't know if the number on the mount has any significance. PN# 2316 in the anchor brand, that most part stores carry.

    well the ones i have if you line the bolt holes up the bases are not lined up they are like offset if you know what i mean

    are maverick motor mounts that specific or would the 2257 and 2286 motor mounts work they look almost exactly the same and they fit on a 302
