Just curious if anyone has replaced stock heating (water+heater core) with some form of electric heating; and if so please elaborate...???

In terms of energy usage, hot water from the engine is free because it would otherwise be wasted. Why use an electric heater that would cost engine power at the alternator?

I've often wished they would put defroster wires in the windshield like in rear windows so you wouldn't have to wait for heat to clear the windshield on a cold winter morning.

Too hard on the battery and charging system especially cold starts. HEater core is easy to replace if you dont have AC. Did mine with new hoses over my lunch hour. Cheap as well. Core was 22 bucks new at Carquest.

Well,,, Big rigs are starting to use 12 -36 volt auxiliary power for engine warm and cab comfort. Peterbilt I think is the biggest one in doing this. Trucks are no longer allowed to idle more then 5 minutes unless extreme temperatures. I have heard bits of info, but do a search and learn the best way.

Cost wise, don't think you will want to hook the Maverick up, but, new tech is always coming out and some get cheaper. Plus,,, how many times we "upgrade" without factoring cost into our projects,,,
