Has anyone ever installed one of these kits to secure the alignment postition of the bolts? How has it worked for you? Here's a link to one such kit: https://www.pro-motorsports.com/store/product.asp?id=13
The way I see it, it takes the now infinite camber adjustment and probably gives you 8 set positions. The proper specs can probably be achieved in 1 of the 8. Personally I think its a waste of money. These are pretty tough front ends and I have never seen the camber adjustment slip. I used to do front end alignments back in the 70's. Setting these fronts is a piece of cake. That would certainly have your front end guy cussing you out.
Mine came loose once. I knew something was wrong when my tires howled going down my street at 30 MPH! And my steering wheel was not straight anymore. The lower control arm bushing was shot, and I think that was a major part of the problem. Still I don't see the point. Tighten them properly they won't come loose. Spend your dough elsewhere! Or else maybe I'm missing something and you can explain why you were interested?
Yes, I found one that gives 8 and one that gives 11. Good to hear advice from an actual front end guy. Thanks!
Looking at the way they are designed it just didn't seem like it would take much to alter them, like a nasty pothole, curb, etc. Something solid as opposed to variable always seems like a better approach to me. Maybe it's not a concern in this case.
Some of the older, bigger cars used positive stops for caster and camber. If you just use your torque wrench to properly tighten the bolt you won't have any problems.
