I would like you guys to tell me what the following car would be worth? IN YOUR OPINION. :)

1972 2 door, One owner car with the original GA. title.

200 6cyl. auto on the column NOT RUNNING.
GOOD black dash pad with A/C Dash. dash tray is excellent.
Black interior with rubber mat (no carpet).
    Factory AM radio is intact.
Door panels have the usual wrinkles around the door handle area.
    Headliner is good.
Door hinges are in good shape and the doors open and shut VERY nicely.
Passenger side floorpans are solid and rust free.
Driver side floor pan is rusted thru right where it meets the inner rocker panel.(I think maybe it sat with the window down for a while and the car is parked on a hill so the water would gather in this area.)
The car was NOT undercoated and the frame rails are rock solid with factory paint still intact (bottom of the car is only dusty looking and not crud covered or rust covered.

Gas tank IS very rusty on the outside and would need replaceing.
trunk floor is clean factory spatter paint (not even scratched up) but the drivers INNER rear quarter apron is rusted through right behind the rear tire.

Outside quarters aren`t rusted, but the passenger side quarter has been repaired and the repaint on the quarter is comming off.
    Tail light panel is good.
The car appears to have the factory paint on it ,and it is so thin that the entire roof is light surface rust (comes off with a scotchbright pad.)
The cowl did not leak when I poured water in it.

    The rear valence is perfect.
the front valance looks nearly perfect.

    Both bumpers have bumperetts.
Front bumper is straight with light rust in some areas
Rear bumper is slightly bent inward and has rust on the bottom side that is fairly heavy.

The entire body is staight except the right front fender has two dents that look like they would "pop" out with little wrinkle left.

The Hood has BAD rust under the front lip all the way back to the hood prop hole.

Standard grill is missing the medallion but is PERFECT.

This car has ONE sport mirror on the drivers side only that appears to be factory installed with inside remote working.:hmmm: (Door has not been replaced)

I forgot to add that although the battery tray is GONE the fender apron area below it is solid

What do you guys price it at?

If it's as clean, and un-molested as you say, I'd pay $2000+. But for me, we haven't had any decent Mavericks up here for atleast 20 years, unless they were brought up from the south. We don't have $500 dollar cars around here, unless they are rot boxes.
The last car I bought came from Arkansas, and I payed just over 2 grand for it, and it was a stripped shell with parts. A complete car is nice, you know what you need, and what you already have.
I've also looked at a super clean shell, in Michigan (advertised on here) that was 2500, well worth the money. I just don't have the room.

I have posted a few pictures of the 77 that I just purchased a couple of months ago at a auction for 250.00. It has a little rust, 250, auto, LDO and under the wheel covers was a set of magnum 500 wheels and the tires were like new. I started it up and drove it about 6 miles to my house. There is one picture of both of my 77's together. Saturday a friend called me about a 73 comet 4dr, LDO that has been sitting in the woods for 13 years that I got for moving it off of the property. My first 77 that I bought about a year ago, I picked up from the original owner for 2000.00. It is a garage kept rust free driver. I guess what I would sugest is that each part of the country is probably different in what is available and that probably effects the price. The 73 comet is a 302 car with ac also. Good luck and happy hunting. :tiphat:

I would say $1000 or less.

Not running but complete/ minimal rust...1500.00 is a fair price to pay.

I have to agree with Jamie on this one.

$500.00 is what I would offer, but I wouldn't go any higher than $1000.00 TOPS and it would take my really wanting it to get that high!

Even though it is complete, fairly rust free, and has some desireable options, it's still a non running vehicle. That alone puts it in the repairable / restorable parts car column in my book.

Here's a link to a similar car in our own forum for $750.00 to compare:

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=74111

Either way, the decision is up to you. You know how much you can afford and know what it takes to repair the problems you have described (or you can find out with a search on the forum quite easily).

It probably has a leaking cowl. In order for rust to be in that location the owner would have had to leave the window down for the last 20 years on a hill

It's reletive I would say. Reletive to your location. In Michigan a rust free car brings pretty good money because they are very hard to find. In California it is easy to find a rust free car I would guess. I have the Maverick that Dave mentioned. It seems I can't get anybody to step up. Thanks Dave for the endorsement. I am asking 2500 and at the swap meet in Columbus this past November I had it down to 2 grand. No takers. A lot of interest but in the end it came back home.

How bad do you want it is the real question.

like they say it depends how much its worth to you and the availability of cars in your neck of the woods. i paid 1600 for my 72. body wise about the same shape as the car you described but in primer and had a brand new set of greg weld wheels but the only good thing about my interior was the headliner. it was an original 200 6cyl car but had been switched to a 302 i think a comet gt was used for the swap based on the fact that the car had both sport mirrors and the hood scoop and rear spoiler. some people find cars for a few hundred bucks but i don't and i really didn't know what a maverick was worth when i bought mine but i think i did ok. i would pay about the same maybe a little less for the car your lookin at. depends to on whether you want a 6cyl or a v8 too. my 2 cents
