Nobody mentioned a blanket!! Not for keeping you warm, but for the fenders when you are working on it, or on the ground to lay on!

This, a crescent wrench, vice grips, side cutters, roll of wire, some electric tape, spare tire, jack and lug wrench. Also a couple of old empty gallon antifreeze jugs.

As a sidenote, I saw that you went through a bunch of coils and a module.

I had the big yellow Accel coils for a while, and for some reason, needed to wire an extra little module in there. I think it was to step down the voltage going to the coil. I forget if it was to save the coil (killed one of them) or if it was supposed to keep the points from burning up too fast.

Sorry I can't remember any more detail ... long time ago. But it may be something to check into. Might end some trouble for you.

I switched everything over to Pertronix, and it was a big improvement. :thumbs2:

    Bucket seats or bench?

Summit and Jegs both have a great assortment of bottle brackets.

I use bucket seats in all my cars, so I go with the trans tunnel behind the passenger seat angled towards the driver seat for easy access for me.

100% agree with fire extinguisher. I keep one in all of my cars. I've had to use it more than once. A little in the way sometimes, but beats watching your car burn down.

OK! I will have to see what I can come up with. I shud be able to use the bracket that came w/ the unit and get the fire ext. out of the trunk.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

Also when getting a fire extinguisher keep in mind "sweep time"............ An average 2.5lb bottle has about 9 seconds of sweep time......... So 1 lb bottle would average under 4 seconds!!!!!!!:16suspect

    Is that enough time?

I think a 2.5 bottle is more equiped to handle the situation, but still not enough for a comfort factor. I think a 5lber is a better idea, but at the same time not as convenient inside a car.

This is true. Mine is about 1.4 lbs. I'd like it to be bigger, but there's the balance of convenience vs. capacity and you just can't predict which will be more important. After my last fire in which I had to dig through the trunk for what seemed like an eternity, (probably less than a minute, but too long!) I leaned more toward the convenience factor. I do have a much bigger extinguisher in my van, but it's a van...
