Well its time to hook up the gas pedal. The 250 6cy is too long. Do the v8 cars have a shorter cable and which bracket do i use for the swap.

...much shorter. with a stock intake manifold and 2 bbl carb, you will need to get the OEM bracket or fabricate a bracket for the cable.

The 6 cyl cable is 27.5"-28.5" long...the V8 cable is 20"-21" long. 75-77 used the longer cables

Also, the V8 throttle cables are not all the same on Mavericks/Comets.

After 1972, the bracket that bolts the cable to the fire-wall hole, went from a "one-hole bracket-requiring 1 bolt", to a "2-hole-bracket-requiring 2 bolts".

If the Maverick you're adding the V8 throttle cable to, is 73' or later, try to get a V8 cable off of a 73' or later Maverick/Comet.

You can make the 72'-V8Throttle cable (one-hole-firewall-bracket) work, but if you're going to the trouble of not tying a 6 cyl throttle cable in a knot, then you might as well get the correct one.

Here is a picture of two V8 throttle cables that I have, that came from a 73 Comet, and 72 Comet.

The 73' on the left has a 2 bolt-hole firewall bracket, and the 72' on the right has a one bolt-hole firewall bracket.

Notice there is also a difference in the way they attach to the pedal.
