My buddy has acquired a 88 5.0 & T5 which he really wants to put in his 74 2dr Mav. The plan was to get the 250 running & install a auto floor shift & be done with it, but after he got this new drivetrain for next to nothing plans have changed. Question-I did pick up a auto floor hump & shifter, but since we're going with the manual T5 can I still use the hump I got or does a manual in the floor have a different type of hump? Thanks
    all...

Oh, now I have to find a manual column & clutch pedal assy-The search continues...........:burnout:

Since the T5's shifter is dead center in the tail housing and not off to the side like our cars originally came with you don't need a hump.

The auto has the hump to strengthen the floor plan since the shifter mounts to the sheet metal. Manual tranny does not use one since the shifter mounts to the tranny.

I think Adam (74Grabber) was taking out his manual pedal assembly. He is in Az. too, Far north Peoria area. See what he wants for it.

And you don't HAVE to swap out to a manual column. you can just take off the shifter handle and gear indicator. 90% of people won't know the difference when glancing inside the car.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Oh now I know about the issue of: Did a manual trans floor shift car have the hump or not. So I guess Ford just cut a hole dead center for the 3spd trans shifter arm to come up, right? We're going to use a Granada Console with this conversion also, just need to find a manual trim plate for the console now, I know, good luck...

With the toploader and a V-gate shifter (yeah, not too many people with these) I had to cut down the side of the tunnel for the shifter rod clearance and open it up for the shifter itself. I ended up making my own 'hump' for it and welding it in. But with the stock style shifter it isn't necessary (I had that before the V-gate).

For the column I just pulled the shifter lever. Later I ran across a collar that wasnt set up for the automatic handle and swapped only that portion of the column out. That still left a hole where the gear indicator was and I covered that with a strip of black electrical tape. Unless you are looking for it you wouldn't know that it was there.
