Will a 15 inch fan work good enough to cool a 302 or do I need a bigger fan? The stock water pump fans are only what 17-18 inchs? Please let me know.
How many blades? A 6 blade 15" is better than a 4 blade 17". A/C or no A/C? If you have A/C put on the biggest fan that will fit and a fan shroud. You will need it in TX. Highway or all stop and go? If all you do is run up and down the highway at 60 mph, you don't really need a fan at all. But stop at a red light for a minute or so in 100* heat, and you can watch your temp gauge climb. 2 or 3 long lights in a row, and the temp gauge will be maxed out.
I wud go w/ one or two of the abv mentioned ideas. I think a shroud is the best bet if ur stickin w/ the mech fan; if for no more than a safety issue. Workin on a car w/ the engine running and no shroud - "Is an accident waitin to happen". Not to mentioin it will do a lot more to increase coolin efficency. I chose to go w/ the elec fan on my car, but everyone has his/her ideas on upgrades. I have a seven blade fan sitting on my garage floor. If ur interested pm me.
