I recently did my heater core, evap and minor repair on my box. The closes thing I can find on a tech article here is on a non-ac box.

I was able to get some ideas frm that article/photos although there is quite a difference in the boxes. I did take several pix of the repairs I did. If u like I can pm some. Since ur car is a 76, I don't know the process being u don't have the package shelf.
Maybe someone else who has exp w/ that yr will chime in. I can say in my case it was something I look fwd to doin agn anytime soon. Gudluck...

    hello,
I looked at your page. Your box looks very nice. I was having problems finding the screws. You notes helped me out alot. I think I can locate mine now. I really appreciate it, thanks....

I just used screws I got frm the hardware. If I wud have to do it agn I wud use stainless hdwe. I guess the plate screws will outlast me..
I don't have any of the heater box pix in my gallery yet. Here is what the box looks like when I took it out and ready to go back in. I got heat now and workin on AC..
The two pix is what the unit looks like when it came out the link is what it looks like ready to re-install on page #3 - post #24.

I only had four fastners to get the one in the 73 out. The 3 on the firewall and the one in the upper right of the box nr the vent duct. Also, the 2 holding the vent register. I don't know the process on later cars w/o package tray. Hopefully, someone w/ that knowledge will give u some assistance. Gud luck.
