I have a 1990 5.0 motor on the stand and want to use the serpentine setup as is.

I searched and found a lot of posts about the serpentine setup but everybody was talking about swapping the pulley onto the older pump. I want to use the late model pump.

Will the late model Power Steering Pump work with the crappy 72 Power Steering system or is the pressure too high?

Anyone do this in their car?

    Thanks

You can do it, not a problem with pressure. I'm currently running a new style 5.0 pump on my 67 mustang with a 351c. You will need to get a Male to Male brass adapter for the hose, but you can pick that up at your local hardware store for a a coupe dollars. Drop me a PM with your email and I can send you some picks of my setup.

I'm also running a stock 92 CII power steering pump from the original serpentine setup. Works just fine. I used the upper section of hard line from the 92 car and the maverick lower section, cut at the hard line near the pump, flared them and used a flared union to connect them together.
