Can anyone brake down in the simple terms of wiring a Taurus fan with a manual switch? Thanks I'm a little electronic illiterate ahahhaha
First... Determine which wire is the high spped feed wire on the fan. One is high speed, one is low speed and one is ground. Now...Quick and dirty...Ground from fan to ground on battery. Hot wire from battery to a 50 amp fuse then to toggle switch that will handle 50 amps...From toggle switch go to high speed fan lead on fan and you are hooked up. I would recommend running the fan through a relay since you will have fits trying to find a cheap toggle switch that will handel 50 amps...Good luck!!!
You know that's a real good question haha I haven't gone to the junkyard to pick one up I was just going to get one for a 3.8 Taurus I guess just 1 speed since it will he simpler
Ground wire to battery negative, one of the other wires to battery + Can't get more simple than that...
I highly recommend using at least a 50amp cycling circuit breaker in a Maxi'fuse holder instead of a fuse and at least 12ga wire, 10ga would be better.
10 AWG been working fine on mine since 2008 and over 80,000 miles.. wires never get warm to the touch. Also using a 40 amp relay that has been working fine when supposedly that's not nearly enough..
Sam The best and SAFEST way is to use a Volvo Fan Controler . You can use the controler torun both low and high speed of the fan . Check tech articals for wiring diagrams..
Ok I pickex up a fan today found out of a 96 cougar 4.6 fits great and is just a single speed then went to advance and auto zone and they didn't know what I was doing or how to do it I foulnd a 50 amp toggle switch. But I couldn't find a 50 amp fuse.? I found a blade style but not a holder is tgere a way to make one ? I'm confused honestly don't know what it looks like.I was figueing just running a 10 gauge wire from battery to fuse-toggle- fan and the a ground to the chase right?
30 amp relay and fuse should be fine...any toggle switch will be fine to turn on a 30 amp (or even higher) relay...:Handshake the 2 speed-Taurus fan is the bad boy that needs the Volvo relay and heavier wiring...
