ok guys i nnrd your help my frand has a 88 gt fiero and he has been doging my poor maverick form day 1 and i want to know what will it tack to kill his car in a drag 1/4 this is what he is wanting is the lz9 engine its a GM it is this is what it is telling me

    LZ9
The new LZ9 3900 features Variable Cam Timing, a new feature on a pushrod engine, roller rocker arms and has a variable length intake manifold. The dual intake runners (One short, one longer) improves intake efficiency across a broader RPM range.
It produces 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 ft·lbf (332 Nm) torque, with a wide torque curve. 90% of the torque is available from 1500 rpm to 5500 rpm. Applications:
I WHAT TO RUN ALL OVER HIM :burnout:and srry on the bad speeling i have a 5.0 im going im going back to carb and i want to build it befor it go in the maverick

A cam, and 4 barrel carb. That should be keep you close with him.
Other then that you will have to gain some serious HP.

Wow your friend must be a very aspiring mechanic. So why would he want to put a dual intake runner manifold engine in? I ask this because chevy didnt even stay with the dual runner intake?(neither did ford but ford got rid of it 10 years earlier when they tried it with the DOHC 4.6 lincolns and found it didnt work as well as they thought it would)
A mildly built 5.0 will be comparable to that motor.. And if you really want to see all the work that is involved with the 3900 swap in a fiero here you go http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/084972.html

Ah the days of teenage drama just let it roll off your back , best bet even with the swap it would only run mid low 9's in the 1/8th if that jmho

Fiero's arn't scary fast even with v8 swaps

how much money do you have to spend is the first consideration. 3.50-3.80 gears and a limited slip will make your car alot faster than it is now with stock gear ration and a open carrier. i would also put a higher stall conveter into the trans if its an auto. some where around 2500 rpm. these mods will allow you to be able to use the power the 302 already makes stock and even beter use of the power when you start modifying the motor.

Is that his IQ or his age?...

Its easy to talk smack on someone elses car with what you are going to do to your car someday...
Just tell him someday you are going to own a 64 shelby cobra and it will stomp all over anything he will ever own:dance:

2k is plenty money to get gears, tires, converter, carb, cam, and intake,im pretty sure you'll take him easy when you build the engine
