Has anyone put a 4 speed automatic in a Maverick? if they have what problems did you have and what clearance issues are there other than the usual transmission cross member driveshaft etc..

Do a search! There have been several 4 sp autos by those on the forum. I believe "71Gold" makes crossmembers for the swap. Frank has pretty much had every conceivable combo u cud imagine in his Mav's.

Its not too hard since all the research has been done already. Just need to get the right flexplate, 28 or 50 oz., block plate, trans itself, Lokar T.V. cable, and a crossmember. Bolt in the blockplate, flexplate, then trans. If you get franks mount then that bolts up too. run the T.V. cable from carb to transmission. then hookup up whatever kind of shift linkage you are going to use. the tricky parts are setting the correct T.V. line pressure, and pulling the headers away from the transmission pan if you have long tubes.

Let me add that if you are runnign stock gears then the AOD will not be a good choice. It will bring your cruise rpm down too low. If you are running 3.50 gears and up then it would be a good mod.

4.11 are a bit much for a street car and would still bring your 60mph cruise up to about 3000 Im guessing. I have 3.89 gears in my 9 inch and I was cruising about 2500rpm at 60. But if you are just going around town and no long freeway cruises the 4.11 would get you off the line quick and have a nice cruise on surface streets.

I don't have the correct speedometer gear in my AOD. At approximately 60mph the rpm's are 2100, with 4.11 gears.

I dont have the right gear either. Its all just a guess on speed. When I was thinking about getting the right gear all I could figure out was a gear for 3.73 and for 4.11. there was no right gear for 3.89.

Yes, the 4.11 gears are perfect and should have your cruise rpm between 2000 and 2500 depending on tire size.
