i have a 1969.5 mav. i have changed flex plate, bell housing and torque converter so it will work with my v8. i still have the original linkage from the i6. whats next to make the linkage work with my column shift. Help!! thanks ed
Ed, You should get the V8 linkages. There is a bellcrank and a couple of arms for the V8. You should also get a kick-down set-up for the V8 unless you have modified the one from the six to work. Quick question: was your six a 250?
wrecking yards or a parts car donor for the linkage. You might also try www.mmerlinn.com they sell used parts. What concerns me is that you have a C4 that only has three clutches in the direct and 4 clutches in the forward packs (at the most). The C4 for the 250 and V8 cars has 4 clutches in the direct and 5 in the forward. To change that you need to get the drums from the V8 trans and change them out. It might be easier to just get a core C4 from a V8 and rebuild it for your application. Bad Shoe Productions has a video on how to rebuild the C4 which makes it easy to do and then put a TransGo 40-2 kit in it (70 and later) and you will have a transmission that you will enjoy for a long time.
