Hey everyone, A while back i posted what one of the very first things i should do to my car is, and everyone said safety/wiring. Now my question is, what wires should i be checking, and how should i know what all needs to be replaced?
I also know that i dont like the way my wires are run through my car and thrown everywhere...would it be hard to make a small wire guide/harness to pin them together around the outside of my bay until they have to split off to go to their destination?

I bought some convoluted wire tubing-it is plastic flexible tubing you can cut to length and tuck your wiring into. It leaves a very neat appearance. I don't like the fabric covering on a lot of the older harnesses, so I did away with it and used the tubing. It is also very cheap and comes in different colors if you want to stand out.

Shortly after I posted the thread I actually found that tubing so I was thinking about going ahead and using that. Anything that cleans it up some!

Check all of them, replace any that looks defected, nicked, cut, stripped, smashed, spliced, mangled or not up to par

Unless you have problems/issues....I would not replace the wiring. Just fix what problems you find...if any.

Man i have all sorts of electrical issues with my lights...not sure where to start! My running lights i believe finally stopped being on all the time if my key was on. Couple nights ago i went down to go to work and my dome light had been on for who knows how long, however the switch was off...i screwed with the lights turning them on/off and brighter/dimmer and after 3-4 mins i finally got it to turn off. My stereo wont turn on now, and when it did run it would only turn on if my lights were off...other than that, i know a wire running to the starter under the hood needs done, but most wires are tubed with some high quality electrical tape...probably tear that all off to check wires, then replace it with the tubing stuff. Then its off to weather stripping, hopefully get that done with soon. Is there an easy way to get the outside air to NOT flow through my vents? It is extremely cold in these nice winter months...and my heater is screwed up, it works on high or it doesn't work at all...so i roast with the heater on, freeze with it off, and get a lot of weird looks driving around with my heat on and window down in the middle of the winter! :D

There's a cable that runs from your heater control along under the dash and attached to the mixer door. Maybe its disconnected. You can see it operate if you look under the center of the dash. If its not operating, and the door is set to direct all the air thru the heater core, you'd get all-or-nothing heat when the vacuum controlled heater control valve is switched on or off.

See the rusty cable mount and mixer door lever near the bottom center of the AC/heater under-dash unit. A cable should be attached and it should move the door when you move the heat control lever on the dash. Look under the dash just right of center and you'll see it.

The lever does move when it is played with, i dont know about opening though? its definitely connected from the heater control down to the mixer lever though.
