    Hi -

www.classictube.com already makes the rear brake line for a 72 Maverick. They said they could reproduce all the lines if they had an original set to copy - any volunteers?

The set would cost $150 for OE steel or $175 for Stainless.

FYI: Non disc brake & disc brake cars are different, including the long front to rear line that runs down the tunnel. I just did a factory conversion on my 72 & had to change all the lines except the axle line. Sorry, but I already tossed the drum brake lines.

I'd say only to bother getting the disc lines reproduced. For the most part the only time us Maverick guys look at replacing the lines is with a disc brake swap.

I gave a complete set of lines, brake, fuel, and vapor vent, to The Right Stuff. They reproduced them all for me in stainless. They sell them and should be in their catalog. If not, you can call them. I had them done for my 72 Sprint. The brake lines will fit any car with 4 drums. Even if you convert to disc, they will still work as long as you keep the drum master cylinder and distribution valve. I have run disc on my car for more than 15 years this way and have had no problems.

    Two questions:
    1) The long tunnel line at the engine bay side has a different size fitting on drum & disc brake cars. Did you use some type of adapter?
    2) What about the power booster? It changes the length & location of several lines, including the calipers through the shock tower lines. Your resolution?

Disc brakes and power brakes aren't mutually inclusive. In fact most disc brake setups are manual setups.

    Cool

They don't list them in their online catalog and I don't see a phone number on their website.. Have a number for them??

Also - when I went to disc I used a disc proportioning valve. Think it will work?? Also - did they set the lines up with the standard size threaded fittings or the odd size fittings Ford used originally?

    Thanks - Dan

I have the complete original type, 4 wheel drum set up front to rear. When I converted to disc, The rubber brake line from the caliper bolted right up to the stock hard line. All fittings are original size. The 800 # is right on the front page of the websight in the red circle.

The right stuff also made up lines for me for my 1972. They even made up a custom line for me...back half of line for a 1972 with drum brakes, front half of line for 1976 with power disc brakes. This way I can put power disc brakes on my car and the rear line will work (The rear lines were different.....even clear back to the rear axle.

I also supplied them patterns for the entire front end to convert to disc brakes...lines are slightly different then for drums.

They dont seem to be too quick to update their catalogs. They did my lines over a year ago and I think you had yours before I did.

The lasted "printed" catalog I got from them had Maverick stuff in it.

I just replaced my front two lines, didn't really have a choice it was the only way I could change the hoses and wheel cylinders cause the fittings were completley frozen on both and. I did it the hard way though bought two straight lines from Napa and bent them into shape myself only cost me $24 and that included the tool to do it with and two adapters for the hoses put it all together so far so good. Couldn't find any place to premake the lines for me without charging a small fortune.

Charlie-I realize that they are not mutually exclusive, but I've found that many more with disc brakes have boosters than not.

Interesting; I called Classic Tube AND Inline Tube a few weeks ago and both companies said they do NOT carry brake lines for Mavericks. They have them for Mustangs though. I was disappointed. Sure, they can custom make anything if you give them the specs. I need a rear brake line for a '72-'73 2-door model...
