Its the original axle housing, its not a nine inch. The truth here is ive had neck sergery last year, so i cant dive into the car but I can buy parts and be ready. Im confident that the car is all original, and there was only one owner..

It will be an 8". The 8.8 is a much later model rear such as what comes in Explorers and so on.

I have never been fond of spools in street cars. A 3.55 ratio will be nice with your C4 (assuming it is an auto). 3.80 would make it very spicy around town, but perhaps less enjoyable on the highway. There are plenty of members who are running both ratios. Is this a V8 car we are talking about?

The Ford 8" is not a c-clip differential. The axles are retained by the bearing retention plates on the ends of the tubes. The bearings are pressed onto the axles.

i would recommend getting strange SS axles. they should be close in price to the mosers and are a much better axle.
i would not run a spool on the street and expecially not on a 28 spline moser axle. ive seen plenty of twisted moser axles.
if your getting new axles and looking for better traction i would recommend getting the auburn 31 spline 8" carrier and the 31 spline strange SS axles. you will be able to use the same axles if you ever step up to a 9"
