Hello guys, I just bought myself a 71 maverick, I'm currently working on it and I found this forum which has been quite helpful. My Mav has a 302, but i'll be swaping a 351W. I'm currently working on the body and interior. The suspension is next. I'll be picking your brains on technical issues :thumbs2: hope you guys don't mind. Thanks

Good luck on changing your spark plugs when you drop that 351 and finding a set of headers that work have you ever thought about a 347 or 331 stroker?

I've done some research and as long as I shave the towers a bit it should be alright..i found a great deal on a 351w and I just couldn't let it go.

I currently reside in New Mexico but i'm originally from Cali..

looks like you have a nice garage!
the car looks sweet, is it just the pic or does it have very little rust? looks like an arizona plate on your wall or I'm blind.

The 351 has been done by a lotta people on this board so I'm sure you'll get a lot of info if you just post questions. Some people shave their towers, most notch it and some just drop the 351w in without any mods but like mentioned before, the sprakplugs and some other things are gonna be hard to access but not impossible.

Do a search for 351 swaps, lots of good info on that.

Yeah im wanting to build a 351 one also but im just worried about the cost of gas.. I think a 351 in a mav is defiantly a great idea and will be very fun :drive:

Thanks, I was surprised to see the car having very little rust in it. The guy that had it used it as a daily driver in a town with nothing but dirt.

Well, it's been two 1/2 years since i joined this forum. Here is an update on my project, i think i've come a long way. Thanks everyone for the helpful tips on making this easier.

The car is running now, still work to be done. I'm currently converting to disc brakes.
