I have a 74 maverick base model, not the grabber, and i want to put a flowmaster 10 series on it. the problem is i'm pretty sure i have 2.25" piping and the smallest that the 10 series comes in is a 2.5" inlet and 2.25" outlet, so would i be able to just run the muffler backwards and buy 2.5 for the remainder or should i just get a 2.25 to 2.5 adapter? short on cash, btw, that's why i'm wanting to go cheap and just throw her on backwards.

I don't think the muffler will flow correctly if installed backward. I would get a reducer/enlarger adapter pipe. Or a different muffler.

Buy a reducer, they make them in different sizes. If you don't have a hoist, take the car to a muffler shop for them to do it.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
i've never heard about their 10 series, but most of their mufflers are not reversable.

if it says inlet/outlet on the muffler then it's not reversable. I know my flowmasters did.

Harbor Freight sells some pipe expanders for like $5.

thank you all for your input, I found a reducer of 2.5 to 2.25 for like $5 so I'll just slap that on there. another thing, would it affect the sound depending on where I place the muffler? I.E. welded up by the front seats versus welded back by the gas tank. either way I will have piping going all the way to the rear bumper.
