Went in and replaced the light switch and things worked well for some time. Now the darn things are out again--ideas or am I getting the wrong light switch or is there a wire that is maybe cracked and shorting it all out?? The fuse is fine btw. Sucks to pull it all out, its fixed and working and then awhile later its not working again. Let me know if anyone has any ideas on this. Thanks
If you spin it left and right does it make a difference? Some of those aftermarket replacement light switches are pretty cheap.
Well the dimmer works as the overhead light will click on if you turn all the way with the doors shut. Its just that they were working fine for awhile and now they are completely out, yet like I said the overhead light works when you turn the knob all the way or when the door is open. Frustrating to say the least. So I guess I replace the switch again and hope it doesnt happen again. I was in hopes someone might know what might be happening so I can locate it easier as things are not only a mess back in there, but hard to see and get to.
When (or if) you replace the switch, check the connections in the plug (vehicle side). If one of those is loose, or has gotten hot, it could cause an intermittent problem. If you wiggle the harness / plug and can get the lights to work again, then I would look for a bad connection.
I did that last time, or so I thought--no go, so I replaced the unit. First one I put in didn't work. Then I thought there was something else, took that switch back, went to a different provider and voila, it worked fine. Then a short time later it stopped working again. uuuugggghhhh !!!
okay back at it. every time i put a fuse in, turn the headlights on the fuse blows. so where to begin and or what steps do you suggest-- anyone?
So I'm looking for bare wires? Something touching the harness. What exactly tlt? This electrica stuff throws me. l
I would look at your aftermarket radio to see how it is installed (if you have one). I have seen the "light" wire the factory radio hooked up as a ground for the aftermarket radio many, many times.
Geeezzz Thats a headache to say the least--maybe I just drive it in the day and forget the whole thing. lol Interesting about the radio hook up Craig. I think that is the only thing that I can think of that has changed. However there was an aftermarket one in the thing prior and the dash lights etc worked--I think I used the same wires to connect to; but I will ck that out. Thanks any other ideas to throw at me? lol Im all ears.

Hey I disconnected the ole radio and put a new fuse in and dash lights are working. So what wire should I tap into for power for the radio? Im up for suggestions. I see a brown wire with a plug, a blue wire that I think is for a cig lighter that has a elbow plug on it. Driving me nuts and well as you know its so comfortable working there! lol Let me know. Im so frustrated I have to walk away from it--then I don't know where to start. ugh Thanks anyone and all.
You need to find a wire that switches off with the ignition. You can run the radio wire directly to the fuse panel and put a bare end of the wire under the metal edge of the fuse. Make sure this fuse is on a circuit that is off when the ignition ins off, and make sure you have an inline fuse on the radio. You can use the cigarette lighter wire for the MEMORY wire of the radio if it is required.
So any fuse that doesn't turn on until ignition is on will work. Just worried about load again. At least here I know it only effects the dash lights. Lord knows what will happen if I go pluggin in on the others. Is there an empty one I could use. I don't recall. And will an inline fuse help if I tag into the same fuse that's been blowing? So it won't blow then?
