Okay, driving me nuts. The motor now wont kick down after she has been cold started. It been way too long since I last dove into one of these. So here is the deal. Cleaned the snot out of the carb, but didn't take it apart. After she warms up it will kick down, but only a little bit. When I tap the linkage by the choke down she will kick down and purr like she should. Seems like the rod at the very bottom of the linkage that goes into the carb is sticking. And I found a vacuum tube just behind the choke that has threads on it that is not connected to anything so I put a cap on it--choke heat tube connection? And is it okay to have just a cap on it? Let me know where that goes or what it needs too please. Choke pull down the issue? And what about a new choke system--should I just go that route and are they aval?
Thanks for any input on this.

    Don,
Check for the heat riser tube in the exhaust manifold, you may have to rig something to reconnect it. Good news is there are kits avaliable for just this.[/QUOTE]
So you think that is the place to start then. Well, where can I find this port opening on the manifold? And what are the kits called and where might I find a good one?

i have this on my 200 six too. when i bought the car there was nothing there. After looking at som pics i figured out what it was. So i bent up some none used brake tubeing anda couple of fule line piecs, (because the port on the chock was stripped), and after drilling a hole in the vacuum take off from the exhaust manifold, i know have somthing thats working,...well kindof.

heat riser tube in the exhaust manifold

Does this tube run then to the same side of the engine and connect into the manifold through a small port located on the rear edge of the manifold? And does anyone have a schematic of all these types of small hoses on a 302? I wonder if others are missing or are hooked up correctly.
    Thanks
