Well i'm at the point of finishing up the interior of my 74 mav. I seem to have an issue with the cluster. I plugged it into the pig tail and only a few of the lights work. I have the ALT, OIL lights working. The turn lights work but I only have two lights working that light up the gauges. I checked the bulbs and they are all good. I tested the the area around the non working sockets with a test light and I have juice on one side but the lights still do not light up. Could this be a ground issue? What grounds the cluster? What lights should come on when I turn the key? A few times while working on it I heard the buzzer come on. I also cleaned the connection. Could it be I just need to clean the better?

A couple of things come to mind ...

Clean the connections. ... sounds like your on it already.

The wiring clip on mine worked its way loose at the bottom, but was still making contact at the top, so only half the stuff in my cluster worked. Make sure it is fully seated.

Some of these dash clusters are prone to crumbling, and the circuits are plastic-encased metal strips that jump between the locations. If you have that going on, it may be time for a new dash cluster. Hopefully, it is easier than that.

In addition to the above, I have also had the metal tabs in the bulb sockets pushed flat to the point they didn't contact the circuit film well.
