I am trying to find out why the '70 200 i6 that we bought for my daughter's 73 mav 4dr will not attatch to the bell housing. Her engine is also a 200 i6 but the bell housing and bolt pattern is not even close to the same! The '70 is out of a mustang. Is there a diffrence in the 2 engines and could we just swap bell housings, we think it is a C6, or will we need a different tranny altogether??
If the starter is mounted high, like under the exhaust maniflod, it is a 200. If it's below the oil pan center line, it's a 250. There was a big bell housing 200 also, but not too many of them around. You might be able to swap bell housings, a C6 bell does not un-bolt, and has a different pan shape, more like an "L" instead of rectangle.
