And once you get to those questions above.. I'm wondering where the Corvette was? I thought you said you passed him? I have to admit that I did fast-forward the vid though.. so I may have missed it. I must also say that you are one relaxed driver at those constant higher speeds. I get fatigued after about a half hour or 100+ speeds(don't ask).. due to my instinctively tight death grip. My knuckles get whiter the faster I go starting at about 85. In my experience and witness of all things tire related.. the blow out isn't what gets you.. it's the twitch and jerk of the suspension when it happens that unsettles the car and gets you out of shape.
I wasn't going to say anything for fear of Mo getting a big head...........but that is some of the most relaxed driving I have seen (at speed) in a long time. Like I said, it looks like he is hooked with the fast driving of the SSC, and now all he needs to do is try some outocrossing and maybe some track days with the Maverick. It's a real funny sensation after you have been traveling over 100mph for long periods of time (drove a lot on the Autobans in Germany and was in the SSC with my Mustang Cobra 3 times) and when you reach your destination or cross the finish line and slow down.................it really feels like you could open the door and run faster than the car...............................love the feeling of speed..........and love driving fast on a closed course......
Thanks for the compliments. Next year the goal is the 150mph class which has a max speed of 160. With the supercharger and better cooling system, better tires and more adjustable suspension I should be ready for it. I need a little more driving experience though, hopefully some autocrossing will help that out.
i didnt have enough personal safety equipment to go. i plan on having it for next year. we have a long list of thing we need to take care of to be ready for next year. mo passes the corvette in the video like the vette was parked on the side road. its just a blur. its less than 10 min after he starts the race.
not really criticizing.. but when does the timer start? reason I ask.. is that you really don't take off like you're on the clock. Even had a small lag right at the start when the gentleman waves the start flag in front of you.
In open road racing it's not the start that is important................but the finish. Thats why you have a "tech" speed", so you burn up some of the time you loose in the curves/start/early braking, etc., and hit 140mph in the straights when you are in the 125mph class....................kind of like sports racing, you can start at the back of the pack of 30 or so cars (and I have done this) and work your way up the top 5. Both type of racing take a lot of skill, and I believe Mo is on his way just needing a little more seat time in his car on sometype of race course like AutoCross, TrackDays, etc....................................IMHO
Maybe early next year we can talk about getting me a hood..................I've already got your sticker in the lower drivers window.
there is a light beam that triggers the actual timing clocks. there is no measured reaction time. they start the cars 1 minute apart. you dont have the leave right on the moment that the flag guy starts. if you look mo resets his gps and starts the stopwatch first.
