Hello gang, I am fixing up my sons 71 Comet and I am needing a chrome or billet master cylinder cover. The shipping at Auto Krafters is a little steep. The car has the drum brake master with no power assist. Mr. Gasket shows a picture of one but must not carry it anymore. Thanks, Eddie

    Cover

Thanks for the replies.....I contacted Summit and it was a no go. I also got into the JCW site and it showed the picture of what I needed, but no number was available to order it. I contacted JeffsFord parts and he thinks an early Mustang cover will fit. I also tried Auto krafters but no reply yet. Thanks for the help....Oh by any chance anybody seen a 66 Cyclone with a straight axel and a Bos 429 engine running around?

That is what I have on mine. I got it at a swap meet. It was brand new from a Mustang vendor.

Watch the chrome ones. The cheap ones have a nasty habit of leaking out of the seal. Makes a real mess of the firewall. Personally I like the factory lid. Not a fan of shiny master lids. Reminds of a 1980's Chevy build. I did my new master with a cast iron colour caliper paint. It looks like a factory master but it doesnt rust.
Just make sure you get a good quality cap that fits snug.

Wild Hare, John's Mustangs in Houston most likely has what you want. Website at http://johnsmustang.com/ Just don't tell him you are putting it on a Maverick or he will tell you it won't fit. He is kind of a jerk, sometimes, and very proud of mustangs.

I work near the border of Pearland and Manvel. If you have that Comet, I would like to see it in person!

    chrome cap

Hey Guys, I am trying something differant with this cap problem. I converted this ride to front disc brakes a couple of years ago so I went to my local parts guy and picked up a master cylinder for a 75 Maverick with disc brakes and no power. I am going to adapt this to the system then go after the cover. After I accomplish this feat I will give an update on how well it worked. I am now helping my son on this 71 Comet so I can get him on the road in something with an additude. Years ago I changed the proportioning valve from a 75 Maverick to a 71 Comet GT I was building at the time. Worked out great but a lot of line adapters. On the 66 Comet , My Dad and I pulled the 390 FE out and fired a Holman & Moody purchased Boss 429 into it with a Datona 4 speed . I put a 457 in the rear with Cobra 31 spline axels and a Detroit locker. To get the Cresent Hemi in we had to cut the fender wells out and install a straight axel into it which I got out of a 64 Falcon Econoline. I wll try to post a couple of current photos. Thanks again for all the support.

Nice car, Wild Hare! Too bad you had to ruin a perfectly good Comet hood when you installed that big air filter! :thumbs2:

    Hood

My son popped the hole in the hood. I tried to reason with him to get a glass hood and slaughter it but he didn't listen and there is the end result. So far it has Edelbrock aluminum heads, a tall roller cam and roller rockers, a forged steel crank,10 1/2 pistons, arp studs, girdle, high volume oil pump, twin roller timing chain, unilite, fluid damper, headers, a 3200 stall convertor, 9" rear, and the frame is tied.

So, it is just tunnel-rammed and not blown? Can't tell from the picture.

How is that 3200 stall on the street? I still have stock converter, and it is not a good match for my setup. I am not brave enough to make a decision on a stall number without driving a car with that stall, first.

I drove Fan2488's 4500 stalled car, and it was miserable on the street. Actually, it was quite fun, but I wouldn't want to do daily driving with it! My 1800 stall SUCKS!!!
