Aloha Maverick guru's. I purchased my maverick in the spring of 1969 - obviously brand new here in Hawaii. Shipped it from Hawaii to Montana and after 13 years, shipped it back. Made a few changes such as a sunroof and a back louvered window. It has been repainted professionally 4 times from it's original 'anti establishment green' to purple/pink, yellow, better yellow and now a teal blue. Still runs great getting 22 mpg off my 200 6 banger. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get a new replacement fuel tank. Mine is leaking. I tried to seal coat the inside, patch the outside all to no avail. I've tried every site on the net and no one has tanks or fuel sending units as well for mavericks. They use to be everywhere. Any info is appreciated.
Welcome! I don't have the answer you need about the gas tank, but I do know they are available somewhere. I have no doubt someone will chime in with the info. I just wanted to see if you had a pic of the louvered back window? Where did you find something like that?
I also have a question for you. I had heard that Mavericks sold in Hawaii came from the factory "heater delete". Can you confirm this for me? As far as the tanks, yours is a 1970 only tank. You will have a real hard time finding another used tank for your car. Your best bet is to have it professionally resealed/repaired.
Welcome from a 70s owner. I dont know if they have Renu places over there, but I had my tank professionally redone for about $200. Here are some pics... http://smegnl.medina.oh.us/index.ph...e&id=57:tank-leak&catid=35:maverick&Itemid=54
