My 77 Maverick now has a 1989 302 rollor motor with Doug Thorley headers (when I get them on). Are there any aftermarket exhaust suppliers for duel pipes, or does everybody just use an exhaust speciality shop and have them made up.
    Thanks
    John

I would say this is the way to go.

Even if you buy an exhaust kit you have to have it all welded up, plus flanges, etc. Easiest and most cost effective way is to have a shop do it. Unless you have a friend with a shop.:)

Thanks guys. I think I knew the answer to the question before I asked, but being new to this Maverick thing, I wanted to make sure I was not missing anything.

try to find someone in your area with a comet or maverick with the same engine set up as your car and if you like there exhaust go to the same shop they went to or atleast use the same mufflers. I bought some magnaflows and had them run dual exhaust with turn downs right off the muffler before the rear end (cost me $200) and I took them off the next day because I didnt like the sound.
I went out and bought headman headers and have been running the open headers since. I did pickup some long tube cherry bomb glass packs and they sound MEAN without any pipe just bolted right to the header. but theres alot of back pressure with them on. the car rolls fast and free without the mufflers put the mufflers on and it slows down quite a bit when you let off the gas.

    Exhaust system..

    Hey Will:
Nows your chance to incorporate an X pipe into your exhaust. They are plentiful NOW and not that expensive .. we made and installed Five of them so far and it always improved the performance .. and they sound great . LOL :)

yep.. X pipes are pretty easy to make too.

At the very least.. run a balance tube between both banks.

The X pipe makes great sense and try and find a muffler shop that has the capability to do "mandrel bends".................it's kind of waste of time and money to take a pipe that is 2" and make it 1-1/2" when you bend it in a regular tube bender.....................
