8.8 rear price question Is $350 dollars a fair price for a 8.8(explorer) 373 locker and disc brakes ? I've been calling all over the place and this is the cheapest so far...
Think they're $150 - $200 from the local pick-n-pull. There are lots of '95-'01 Explorers in the JY now.
$149.00 From LKQ in Clearwater Florida, plus a core, it was around $200 with taxes. 4.10:1 Trac lok, with discs. CaptianComet helped me get it out, if you get one, take a wagon, or some straps to strap it to a wheelbarrow.
all my local places want $350 none of them are (you pull it) places... I found one for $250 about 40 miles away but they don't know if its a trac-Loc....
I have paid between $75 and $200 here in Missouri and all of them were already removed from the vehicle.
Check out the Charlotte, NC Craigslist for the T5. They have a lot of performance stuff. I intend to do an Explorer 8.8 in my F100 someday. LKQ in Durham, NC and Bullock Slavage in Creedmore are likely sourses LKQ has the prices online and I expect Bullock to be about $200. If you decide to come up this way I can help you. Would be good practice for when I get mine. Could also poll the local Ford club to see if anyone has a good T5. Not sure how you tell if a T5 that's out of the car needs work or not. Might be worth the trip if you could get the heads, tranny and 8.8 all in one trip. Jim
I can probably get one down here in Lakeland for around $150-200. If you would like me to inquire for you let me know.
60-125 is what i usually pay non trac lock isnt a issue jeep guys want open cases for lockers and usually gladly trade for them
Nope, every Explorer after 2006 has a 8.8 with discs. Just check the codes on the doors, I found a list of codes somewhere on the net, and put them in my phone, so they would be easy to look up. 4X4's usually have the trac lok. Remove the rear shackles (easiest way) then unbolt the rear end and side it out, it's had to pull one out from the side, since the gas is in the way, don't ask me how I know. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/8-8-ford-explorer-rearend-tools-needed-removal-157513.html
