Has anyone done it to their's? If so, how long would it last and would it be alright under the heat conditions of the engine (part in question is headers)? Thought about buying some new headers and having them powder coated before i install them on my blue car

I just called the powder coating place here in Fayetteville, They said regular pc won't stand up to the heat but they do ceramic coating and it will. $175 to 250.

Regular powder coat will turn into black goo and start burning off the first time you start the car.

So... Its been 3 years since this post was posted, hows the ceramic coating holding up? Would you recommend ceramic coating or something else? Thinking of ceramic coating my exhaust manifolds.

I have only about 1200 miles on mine in 7 years, but they still look brand new.

ceramic coatings are certianly better for headers due the the much larger surface area and need for improving heat retention(tough for thin pipes to do) for improving flow resistance.. but fall far shorter on cast manfolds.

It will however will keep them from rusting so quickly(although they are more porous and can sometimes slowly show more rust pinholes because of it) and it will be cheaper to do on smaller parts like that.

ehhh.. a bit pricy for how much less work they are than full headers.. but as long as they sandblast the crapola out of them to make sure they're good and clean.. what'ya gonna do without having to ship those heavy things around, right?

Unless they're doing the inside too for that price?.. then it's not quite bad at all. If they are doing in and out.. might want to have them hot tanked first because the prep is usually where they'll cut corners on you.

Good luck with it all. (y)

That's what some of the header mfgrs are starting to use these days for their "standard finishes" too. Saves them more cash and reduces wastage than the old spray-n-go heat paints they used to use.

groberts101, you hit the nail square on the head...shipping those heads to and from America is spendy. I already had them tanked, they will sandblast and paint.
