I just put a shift kit in my Maverick with a C-4, but after putting the valve body back in the transmission doesn't work. It barely moves the tires in gear and won't move them in reverse. Anyone else ever have this problem? I was real careful to do exactly what the directions said for the B&M shift improver kit. The only weird thing I can think of is that I got a new spring that the filter holds in place (didn't have one before) and the spring seems really stiff. I know I'll have to take it apart again, but just thought I'd ask you guys/girls before to give me some things to check for.
    Thanks,
    Erick

Call up B&M. They have a 800 # in the literature. I used them when I put one of their kits in my 77 and they were very friendly and helpfull. I know nothing about automatics other than I hate them and I got mine going with their help.

the spring is a stiff one the little valve the flat side to the valve body its a pressure relief valve if your trans was working you need to check you work on the valve body. Did you adjust the bands be sure you have a good vacuum to the trans. How much trash was in the pan? You may need a rebuild

Just thinking out loud (and that is never good!!):

manual valve installed correctly? They're a PITA to get 'em in right when the trans is in the car.

Sure you got all of the VB-case bolts tight? Leaks there will cause all sorts of problems!

Don't worry with the modulator right now. It doesn't control whether or not the trans is in gear. It only controls part-throttle shift points.

Sure there's enough fluid? Should take about 4-5 quarts to refill after a valvebody swap....more if you drained the converter, then it'd be about 6-7.

The valve & spring under the filter--the large side goes toward the VB and the small side goes toward the spring. The spring is compressed by the filter.

If all else fails, you'll have to pull the VB and disassemble it again. Hate to be the bearer of bad news:rolleyes:

    Fixed It

After removing and replacing the valve body 3 times, I fixed the transmission and it works great now.:D The manual valve wasn't lined up right with the post on the shifter. I sure learned alot about the tranny.:) Thanks again for the help everyone.
