250 I6 hp gain

    im taking the head off my 250 Inline 6 to replace the lifters and was wondering if their was anything else i could do to get more horsepower thanks

    engine bored, a larger cam and header for the 2 barrel carb.

    If you can find them...use 260 V8 valve retainers. They are 6 grams lighter, total of 72 less grams. They are also stronger and fit the 6's valve stem. 289/302 exhaust valve springs used for both intake and exhaust on the 6 cyl. Rebuild a 77-80 head to gain the larger intake log (1345 cc verses 1240 cc) and larger intake valves (1.75" verses 1.65"). The hex head has a 1420cc intake and 1.75" intake valve.
