So I goofed.. Refabbing my rear brake line for the proportioning valve, I cut it on the thick part. Looks like it's actually two brake lines there (one slipped on top of the other). Got any advice on what to do? Figure the choices are to flare the double-line as it is (if that's even kosher), and then find an adapter fitting that works. Or Try to cut the outer sleeve off so that I'm left with just a 3/16 line sticking out of the end (how it is originally), and flare that with the correct fitting I already have.
If you're not up on the variety of flares (inverted, double, different angles?) or only have a cheap flaring tool, there's a hydraulics shop just off of Litchford Rd near Capital Blvd that will do what you need. He did a brake line for me. I needed a different size fitting to go the a power master cyl and wasn't sure of the type of flare needed. Had the brake line all bent and didn't want to mess it up. Think he charged me $5 or $10 labor. Jim
Sweet!! That's the one I was hoping for. Just didn't know if it was possible to do, and didn't leave too much slack to mess up. Thanks!!
Thanks Jim! I'm pretty decent at the double flare (been doing alot recently). If the brake line were off of the car I'd totally do that! This is my last flare to do, so I think I might just give it a go myself. If I screw it up more tho, I know where I'll be going
