When I pull the E Brake handle on my 72 to set the brake it will not set. It only slides back down to the off position. I am guessing the catch pin on the side of the E Brake handle's shaft is sheered off. Hence I need to find another one. Is this an easy fix and has anyone had the same issue? I assume so as every salvage car I find has the same issue. Thoughts and info anyone? Thanks

Sounds like the little "flapper" that engages all the teeth on the bar is gone/missing/broke, etc. I would look at that.

Sorry Craig haven't been on the site agian for awhile . . . Is that an easy fix and do you have a pic of it? Not sure what I would be looking at and exactly where. I have an idea of what you are talking about though. The "flapper" is a part of the holding/ mounted portion that the shaft rides through isn't it? And how difficult is it to take out and put a new one in? Any ideas or help greatly appreciated.

There is a spring that which works with the flapper as well. Easy fix as long as you have the flapper and spring.
