Fuel Economy ?

    1970 170 3 spd bought new by my mother
    Does anyone know what Fords advertised fuel economy was for the 69.5 mavs with a 170 and a 3spd. What is anyone getting with this setup. just curious.

    moms70, I realy don`t know but you can pick up a cuple MPG with a slightly bigger exhaust system and a DS II ignition system . What kind of MPG is it gettin now ?

    I found a old add that said 22.5 mpg on their test track with professional driver.

    When mine was new I had a 200 with manual trans and best I ever remember getting was around 18. But then, I always had a heavy foot even when I tried to be good.

    My 72 with a 200 and auto trans I would get 21-22. Providing I stayed under 60 MPH. They say a manual trans gets better milage and takes less hp to turn.

    That's what I thought I'm not sure what is was getting cause when it was legal the fuel guage didn't work

    i get about a 1/4 mile per gallon. and that's at $5.50 a gallon.:slap:

    Don, My chevy gets about the same milage as yours 1 gal per quarter mile. But you have to love the launch.
