A while back, I installed a rear sway bar, as many on here have, and had the rear frame rails damaged, as many on here have. Today, I had them repaired, and done really right. Harold welded 1/4" plate to the damaged areas, welded the mounting bolts to the plates, eliminating the u-bolts that hold on the sway bar brackets. The bolts are 7/16" where the ones they replaced were 5/16" u-bolts. I think the car will twist apart before the repair fails. Here are the pics I took.
Mostly well. Have had alot on my plate with the home expansion and work and upkeep of my rent house. I would get alot more done if I wasn't so lazy. I have reached a point where I just don't want to do anything. I just want to do the fun stuff haha.
Funny, twenty minutes ago, I just crawled out from under my car. I'm doing the same thing. I had 1/8 plates cut out with a water jet. I'm tying in the bottom plate with two side plates. I'm retaining the U bolt. Micah
Should work just fine. Man that fixed mine said that the lateral forces on the frame are minimal, but the upward forces are what do the damage. The drivers side wasn't damaged at all. Good luck with the repair.
Hope that wherever the Gathering is next year, I can make it. Good luck with everything, and enjoy the fun stuff!
Actually Craig, it was a nasty bronze color, with a tan interior. I just didn't like either color too much.
Looks like u have done lots of suspension mods on the car. Nice work on the rear anti-sway bar setup. Did u go to a larger bar on the frt? Looks like I see frame connectors too? Did these mods really make a big difference in performance? Also, hope I can mk the Gathering also -- be nice to cross paths agn.
ah man I luv the bronze color.my black four door is going back to that color(lousy paint job on it now) but luv the work on yours! i'm gonna do that to two of mine.the picks help a lot.great job!
